What is a Conscious Parent?

What is conscious parenting? Conscious parenting is paying attention to your actions, thoughts, and reactions. Using curiosity to investigate anything unsupportive of our desire for our children and ourselves. It’s about being committed to your own personal growth and healing. It’s not about being perfect. You do fall down and you do get back up. It’s about how you do it that makes it conscious.

It’s about being aware of your patterns and looking at them. Conscious parenting is about owning our stuff, our shit, and then apologizing when we know we haven’t acted in a way that reflects our intentions.

Again, conscious parenting is about paying attention, and it’s very much like having a conscious romantic relationship. We communicate, set our intentions, and work towards having a thriving relationship.

Often I see parents feeling they need to fill in space for their kids so that they do not have to experience pain or suffering. I thought that early on too. Just like us, they have their journey. We are here to give them skills and support along the way so that they can develop resilience and self-trust

Conscious parenting isn’t about methods, although those are helpful as well. It’s about learning how to access the depth of understanding we each have and connecting with your child and showing them what it’s like to be a conscious human.
